ARTIST STATEMENT

Ashley’s work explores the intersection of place, identity, and the natural world, using oppositional and unconventional materials. Central to her process is the act of collecting - gathering objects and materials with personal, cultural, or environmental significance. Repetition, along with the processes of demolition and reconstruction, are key elements in her exploration of the human condition and the nature of our patterns. By challenging the boundaries between the natural and the constructed, Ashley’s work explores themes of memory, the environments we inhabit, and human biology. Through her use of unconventional materials and processes, she reflects on the complexities of human experience and our continuous relationship with both the internal and external environments.
